Webinar scheduled Mon. on proposed changes to Medicaid

Want to have your say about the proposed changes to the Medicaid program in Kentucky before the July 22 deadline, or just learn more about it? A web-based seminar, or webinar, next Monday could help you do either, or both.

The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky is offering the webinar to provide background on the plan proposed by Gov. Matt Bevin for special waiver from the federal government.

The webinar is scheduled for Monday, July 18, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. EDT. It is free and open to the public. A link to the webinar is available on the foundation's website. The webinar will be presented by Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, a Washington, D.C., law and lobbying firm.

The presentation will be posted on the website afterward for those who are not able to join the live event. An earlier webinar provided background on Medicaid waivers under Section 1115 of the Social Security Act, which allows demonstration projects.

Comments on the plan are due to the state Cabinet for Health and Family Services by 5 p.m. EDT Friday, July 22. State officials have said they will amend the plan and submit it to the federal government on or around Aug. 1.
